Horsfield

These tortoise are also known as a Russian although they are categorised as a Mediterranean tortoise.

As with the other Med tortoise the slower they grow the better. On average Horsfields grow approx. 1 inch per year and are fully grown at 10 years.

This species typically grows to 8-10 inches and is expected to live 75+ years.

Ideal housing for this breed is a tortoise table, they do not like excessive damp so a vivarium is definitely out of the question as there is no escape from the humidity.

Again as with the other Mediterranean breed a good natural diet is best. Horsfields do hibernate and they can also have an estivation during a hot summer.
