Sulcata Tortoise

Geochelone Sulcata – sometimes referred to as the African Spurred tortoise, this species is the 3rd largest tortoise in the world with only Galapagos tortoises and the Aldabra giant tortoise being larger.

Adult G.Sulcata can reach 24-30 inches (60-90cm) in length, and can weigh anywhere between 100-200lbs!

They are a very strong species so owners need to make sure that when they are arranging the outdoor enclosure they use solid fencing or railway sleepers to keep the tortoises from knocking over the fence and escaping!
