This breed is often mistake for the Hermann tortoise. As their markings are very similar the main difference is that they have a small horn shaped spur at the top of their back legs.
There are approx 8 sub breeds of spur thigh tortoise. Most grow approx. 1inch per year and are fully grown at about 10 years of age.
This breed are categorised as a Mediterranean so a tortoise table is best suited, again a natural diet is best.
Most of the Spur-thigh breeds do hibernate and most require an Article 10
